Brand New Day

Woke up early this morning to falling snow and sun shine. Snow that finally settled for once in days, but wasn't enough for any full-on snowball fights. I can't wait for spring where I will no longer have to be burried in massive jackets and all I need will be a jumper. Walking around in zero degree weather isn't the best thing in the world.

Four more weeks till easter break! It felt like only a couple of weeks ago I was back at home but it'll be a nice break back in KL and then a good one week in LONDON with the familia and here in Bath. Parents around will mean-being able to buy all sorts of lush food and clothes! Oh yeah.

In the meantime, I'm up to my ears in placement application for this July. I am about to become a corporate slave everyone, watch this space. I've applied so far for a finance position for Lehman Brothers (working in global treasury), and I gotta work on my apps for JP Morgan, Baker Tilly, HSBC and L'oreal(!!) this weekend. Initially I wasn't going to bother applying to so many firms, but competition is fucking stiff here. You get people who spent their gap years working in big multinationals to teaching orphans in Mexico, and I all I have is a few days stint in Fendi.

It's harsh.

One of the placements, this fancy marketing position for Unilever had over 40 applicants, including Dan-and only 8 people have been called for an interview. And Dan who is probably one of the most qualified people didn't even get it. It's scary, so I'm working my butt off for this.

My context negotiation coursework hasn't quite taken off. Our meetings involve discussing where to go out that night and talking cock. Seven days left-quite screwed. I think our group gets along a bit too well.

Got my exam results back, did well. So did Shaym, Sven and Dan, and a whole load of people actually. It's all good. I can't be arsed to celebrate because I have been going over my budget this month and I keep forgetting I still have a full month left here. Instead, staying in with my baby and watching Cool Runnings. It's the whole winter olympics mood. :)

The house actually feels quite quiet now with Ian gone. He's decided to take on an apprenticeship instead of continuing with the course. Monday night involved dinner at Nando's, drinks at Whetherspoons (blue lagoon!) and good music and more drinks at Qube- it was one of the best nights out with the 6 of us. Now it's just down to us 2 guys and 3 girls. *Sigh*

Today just made me think about the whole load of issues and things I have to go through in just a span of 5 months that I've never had to do before. I'm well aware of the fact that I'm shallow by nature, always wanting my own way and turning a blind eye to things I don't want to confront. But I've been learning to compromise, be brave and face things head on and opening up mind to things that don't actually revolve around me.

I'm growing up, but give me some time.

Hearts and Sparks

Interview went really well and I had a really good interviewer. :)
Told her in the end that I was really nervous but she told me I came off really confident.
Did get stuck at the question I was dreading to get but knew I would- "What can you tell me about a current event that is affecting businesses?"

I talked about the oil price industry. Thank you Shaym. <3

Gonna go look at houses tomorrow and start on some work like context.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY EVERYONE. Love to love.

Pure Torture

Interview preparations:
1. Buying new clothes and shoes.
2. Parading around in new interview clothes and shoes.
3. RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH.
4. Watching the boys parade around in their suits.
5. Followed by boys running around house shirtless with ties wrapped around head (Rambo style y'all) and barging into my room and waking Jenny.
6. Staying up getting Shaymmy to tell me about current events.

Shaymal- MATE, we're kicking ass says:
so what is the current business situation in the oil industry
Azy says:
..................
Shaymal- MATE, we're kicking ass says:
for eg shelll
Shaymal- MATE, we're kicking ass says:
bp......
Azy says:
don't do that, you're freaking me out
Shaymal- MATE, we're kicking ass says:
ok
Shaymal- MATE, we're kicking ass says:
ill be kind
Azy says:
shit, you're freaking me out now
Azy says:
im gonna look that up
Shaymal- MATE, we're kicking ass says:
really
Azy says:
ok fine, you tell me then
Shaymal- MATE, we're kicking ass says:
you see
Shaymal- MATE, we're kicking ass says:
theres a pipeline that goes throught ukraine from russia, but that contains natural gas, that gas is due for uk and europe
Shaymal- MATE, we're kicking ass says:
but russia are closing that down because of bad relation
Shaymal- MATE, we're kicking ass says:
s
Shaymal- MATE, we're kicking ass says:
and so that added to the fact that oil is running out
Shaymal- MATE, we're kicking ass says:
and disputes in the oil delta in nigeria
Shaymal- MATE, we're kicking ass says:
means that oil prices are rapidly rising, hence 60 dollars a barrell
Shaymal- MATE, we're kicking ass says:
whcih means that petrol prices are going up as well
Shaymal- MATE, we're kicking ass says:
since petrol is a necessity good, and has inelastic demand,
Shaymal- MATE, we're kicking ass says:
oil companies are getting a big fat profit for the 5 quarter running
Shaymal- MATE, we're kicking ass says:
which means that shell and bp are rollling in the profits, hence the business that oil companies go is bloody good, (if you work for them that is)
Shaymal- MATE, we're kicking ass says:
i think that the answer
Shaymal- MATE, we're kicking ass says:
what do you think
Azy says:
i'm gonna erm, crawl into a corner now
Azy says:
and cry

Shaymal- MATE, we're kicking ass says:
*voice clip* And why are you going to do that?
Azy says:
because you have just made me feel very very very
Azy says:
inadequate
Azy says:
please dont tell me you just told me all that at the top of your head, pleasseee

Shaymal- MATE, we're kicking ass says:
*voice clip* If it makes you feel any better i didn't tell you that at the top of my head.
Azy says:
it's not that i have no idea whats going on in the world!!
Azy says:
please tell me you read that off somewhere
Azy says:
PLEASE

Shaymal- MATE, we're kicking ass says:
well.....................................
Shaymal- MATE, we're kicking ass says:
yeah i got it from sky and other sources aswell, look you'll be alright

Ergh, I hate him. But at least I know what the oil industry's like now. Even though it probably might have nothing to do with PWC.

Haih. Need some rest, gonna get up really early tomorrow.

Gaaaay

I just watched Brokeback Mountain with Shaym.

I have NEVER seen a guy look so UNCOMFORTABLE in my entire life!

HAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAH!

I still think it was better than Final Destination 3 could ever be :P

ok, that is all. Toodle-oo.shaym wants to go enforce his manliness or something, and I quote, "Sort this shit out" end quote (probably by spitting and burping and farting) hawhaw.

For some weird, fucked up, god only knows and "why-the-fuck?" reason, I have been thinking about you quite a lot. I keep thinking that i've done something wrong because i've got this sinking feeling in my stomach that, you are not talking to me.

On purpose, mind you.

I honestly don't know who reads my blog anymore, but in case you do somehow, what's going on?

Are you people still reading this blog anyway? Leave a comment lah ----->
Last time semangat only turn my blog into a message board :)

Sweet

It's only a couple of days left to a new term and I have no idea why, but I'm all excited about it! I'm a geek, I know. The whole getting into a routine, working my ass off for group projects, preparing for placements are just the tip of it. I'm looking forword to student nights in town again and seeing everyone at Caddies on a Monday night. I can't wait for business context to start and getting down to our negotiation presentation (especially since I don't have to present this time!). It's back to Sven, Dan and me running back and forth from each other's rooms trying to finish up seminar work. Back to movie nights in Ian's room on weekdays. Back to gossiping with the girls and pointing out cute guys in lectures. Back to falling asleep in Accounting lectures and silently cursing my OB lecturer.

Not quite liking the fact that Mondays now start with an OB lecture and the two hour lecture that's at 8.15 in the morning on a Wednesday. Not looking forword to OB seminars and the dreaded new coursework. The whole placement thing scares me shitless as well. But it's all good because 8 weeks may seem long but they'll pass by in an instant.

Also liking the fact that I don't have to always go to lectures and sit with Sven and Dan all the time and listen to who Sven would like to bone that week- I can go with him. :) ( no offence guys, I still love you!). I hate how Shaym doesn't have OB this sem though, grrr.

Off to Cardiff for a shopping trip tomorrow. Primark, here I come! Still have yet to finish my cover letter for my movk interview on the 14th. Not to sure how to convey the "supposed" interest in working at Pricewaterhouse, especially the tax department. Hmph.
