Brand New Day
Woke up early this morning to falling snow and sun shine. Snow that finally settled for once in days, but wasn't enough for any full-on snowball fights. I can't wait for spring where I will no longer have to be burried in massive jackets and all I need will be a jumper. Walking around in zero degree weather isn't the best thing in the world.
Four more weeks till easter break! It felt like only a couple of weeks ago I was back at home but it'll be a nice break back in KL and then a good one week in LONDON with the familia and here in Bath. Parents around will mean-being able to buy all sorts of lush food and clothes! Oh yeah.
In the meantime, I'm up to my ears in placement application for this July. I am about to become a corporate slave everyone, watch this space. I've applied so far for a finance position for Lehman Brothers (working in global treasury), and I gotta work on my apps for JP Morgan, Baker Tilly, HSBC and L'oreal(!!) this weekend. Initially I wasn't going to bother applying to so many firms, but competition is fucking stiff here. You get people who spent their gap years working in big multinationals to teaching orphans in Mexico, and I all I have is a few days stint in Fendi.
It's harsh.
One of the placements, this fancy marketing position for Unilever had over 40 applicants, including Dan-and only 8 people have been called for an interview. And Dan who is probably one of the most qualified people didn't even get it. It's scary, so I'm working my butt off for this.
My context negotiation coursework hasn't quite taken off. Our meetings involve discussing where to go out that night and talking cock. Seven days left-quite screwed. I think our group gets along a bit too well.
Got my exam results back, did well. So did Shaym, Sven and Dan, and a whole load of people actually. It's all good. I can't be arsed to celebrate because I have been going over my budget this month and I keep forgetting I still have a full month left here. Instead, staying in with my baby and watching Cool Runnings. It's the whole winter olympics mood. :)
The house actually feels quite quiet now with Ian gone. He's decided to take on an apprenticeship instead of continuing with the course. Monday night involved dinner at Nando's, drinks at Whetherspoons (blue lagoon!) and good music and more drinks at Qube- it was one of the best nights out with the 6 of us. Now it's just down to us 2 guys and 3 girls. *Sigh*
Today just made me think about the whole load of issues and things I have to go through in just a span of 5 months that I've never had to do before. I'm well aware of the fact that I'm shallow by nature, always wanting my own way and turning a blind eye to things I don't want to confront. But I've been learning to compromise, be brave and face things head on and opening up mind to things that don't actually revolve around me.
I'm growing up, but give me some time.
